On Earth Day, "Rock the Green" hosts party in Milwaukee powered by the people!

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- On Earth Day Wednesday, April 22nd, celebrations were held across the country. In downtown Milwaukee, one party was powered by the people!

The city of Milwaukee partnered with "Rock the Green" to put on a bicycle-powered show.

In addition to music, guests also learned about green alternatives and sampled local organic foods.

An event organizer says it's important that everyone does something to help the environment, even if it's small.

"Everybody, no matter what you do, if it's just recycling or maybe if you are composting -- all efforts and everybody contributes to be a little more green can build up to one big effort," Rock the Green founder Lindsey Stevens Gardner said.

Also announced Wednesday -- the "Rock the Green" music festival will return in 2016. It will be held at the Reed Street Yards in the Menomonee Valley.

The music festival has been on hiatus for a few years after the title sponsor backed out.
