Waukesha firefighters able to contain grass fire near Sunset Drive, Fox River

WAUKESHA (WITI) -- Waukesha fire officials say a grass fire near the Fox River has been contained.

Firefighters and police officers responded to the area of Sunset Drive and the Fox River Thursday, April 23rd just before 5:00 p.m. for a report of a grass fire.

The grass fire was contained and extinguished by the Waukesha Fire Department and other fire departments. Fire officials say dry grass and winds made it a challenge to fight. It took about two hours for the fire to be put out.

No one was injured.

We're told 20-30 acres burned in the fire. No hopes were jeopardized, and no one had to be evacuated.

Roads were closed in the area, but officials were working to reopen them.

It is unclear what caused the fire.
