Autopsy set for Monday on human remains discovered in Jefferson County
JEFFERSON COUNTY (WITI) -- The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office is set to conduct an autopsy on human remains found in Jefferson County this weekend. This, as those searching for missing loved ones are waiting anxiously, hoping they'll soon learn the person's identity.
The remains were discovered off of Inlynd Road in the Town of Sullivan.
Authorities say they received a call from a citizen reporting what looked like human remains on Friday, May 1st, at approximately 5:13 p.m.
A source tells FOX6 News the remains appear to belong to a white female.
These remains being found has many guessing as to who they could possibly belong to. Which of Wisconsin's missing people could this possibly be?
It is perhaps fate that the announcement that human remains were discovered came on the day search crews looking for 27-year-old Kelly Dwyer were going to plan their new search. It was just last week that Dwyer's father, joined by a Milwaukee police captain and the family's private investigator, announced they'd soon be relaunching their search.

The big question for them is, could the remains discovered Friday evening be those of Kelly Dwyer?

Dwyer has been missing since October 2013. Kris Zocco, believed to be the last person to have seen Dwyer, is behind bars -- sentenced to serve 19 years after he was convicted on drug and child pornography charges. He has never been charged in connection with Dwyer's disappearance.
"Because our area of interest is between Milwaukee and Madison, it piqued my interest to at least come out here and see what they found," said Pablo Valezquez, the Dwyer family's private investigator.
The Dwyer family isn't the only family anxiously waiting for the remains to be identified. As Christopher Schwartz with Operation Locate Our Children points out, there is a long list of missing people.
"Some have been missing a few days. Some have been missing a decade. Most of these families want to find their loved one that's been missing. Anytime that we hear of somebody that's been found and, you know, out there, we're just hoping that we get, you know, connect the dots and help the family out," said Schwartz.

On Sunday, May 3rd, Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke laid a wreath to remember Alexis Patterson -- missing for 13 years. She was seven years old when she disappeared on her way to school back in 2002.
"I'm under no illusion that she'll be found alive, but we still need to know what happened. We need to know. We need closure. This community needs closure. The family needs closure," Sheriff Clarke said.
As for Kelly Dwyer, Valezquez says the search for her will continue as planned until they're certain they've found her.
"If it turns out that this may be Kelly, then our search effort will discontinue. Otherwise we will continue the searches. We're never going to give up hope. The Dwyer family's not going to give up hope. They have been informed that there was remains recovered in this area so they're just waiting for word," said Valezquez.
FOX6 News is told the autopsy is expected to take place on Monday, May 4th.
