Forced to jump: Three escape out window after fire breaks out at Milwaukee home



MILWAUKEE (WITI) --   Firefighters on Monday night, May 4th were called out the scene of house fire near 28th and Michigan.  The call came in around 11:20 p.m.

When crews arrived on scene, they encountered heavy fire on the first and second floors and reports of people trapped.  At that time, additional fire companies and paramedics were called to the scene.

Deputy Chief Aaron Lipski tells FOX6 News three people jumped from the second floor before crews arrived on scene. Two of the people who jumped from the home were taken to the hospital for treatment, a third person refused medical transportation.

There were no other reports of injuries.

Officials say it is unclear if the home had working smoke detectors.

The cause of the fire is unknown and remains under investigation.
