$40 million K-12 private school with connected sports facility proposed for south side

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- An estimated $40 million K-12 private school with a connected sports facility for use by local residents is being proposed for Milwaukee’s south side.

The school and athletic facility would be built on sites south of Harrison Avenue, between South Sixth and South Fourth streets.

Further details on the private school are not included in an application filed with the city by Milwaukee architect Jason Korb, who was not available for comment.

The owner is identified only as AEE LLC, of Pewaukee. That application identifies a $40 million, multi-phase investment that would create 65 jobs.

More than half of the roughly 10-acre site was for a long time intended to be a soccer facility for the near south side's youth population, said Ald. Tony Zielinski.

The former owner is Milwaukee developer Joel Lee, who chaired a task force Zielinski helped organize more than 10 years ago that identified the property as a good location for the public soccer complex.
