Zoo Interchange project: Bluemound Road bridge will soon reopen, but another bridge will be closed

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- There is some good and not-so-good news as it relates to the Zoo Interchange construction project.

The good news: The Bluemound Road bridge over Highway 45 will soon reopen. Weather permitting, cars and pedestrians will be able to use the bridge starting Monday night, May 18th.

The bridge has been closed since October 2014.

The not-so-good news: With the opening of the Bluemound Road bridge comes the closure of the Wisconsin Avenue bridge.

"Pretty much what you see with the orange barrels and barricades we have on Bluemound Road, they'll be transferred over to Wisconsin Avenue and then the Wisconsin Avenue bridge will be closed and that will be closed all the way through the fall of 2016," Mark Klipstein with the Wisconsin DOT said.

Even though the Bluemound Road bridge will reopen soon, the on and off ramps from Highway 45 will remain closed.

There is no set date as to when those will reopen.
