LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY (WITI) — Video surveillance captured disturbing footage of a school bus in Louisville dragging a young girl after her backpack got stuck in the door.

According to KTVI, the bus dragged the child about 100 feet, yet neighbors described the distance as being at least a football field.

“It was amazing. I couldn’t believe it, her bouncing around in that door, all the way down the street, it was bad,” said Tom Carman, neighbor.

The surveillance video shows a red Chevy Camaro speeding up behind the school bus. Neighbors say they originally thought the Camaro’s driver was doing something wrong, but then realized the car was racing to stop the bus, because they’d seen the girl being dragged.

Finally, the driver of the Camaro got the bus driver to stop, and neighbors ran to help the girl. She scraped up with road rash and was taken to a children’s hospital for treatment.

Authorities say the girl’s condition has not been released, but is expected to recover from her injuries.

Since the incident, Jefferson County Public Schools have launched an investigation.

this might have been nothing but a freak accident or maybe a careless school bus driver, here in Milwaukee I’ve noticed how school bus driver drive recklessly and act like nobody can touch them.
I wish the companies would be more careful about who they hire to transport our kids, also hope that maybe you guys can do a report on this companies wreck less drivers.

How can this happen especially when the girl is so young. The bus driver should have made sure that the girl made it to the door of the house before driving off. Instead closes the door of the bus before the kid clears the door and drives off. This driver should be fired and arrested for causing bodily harm to a child.
