One person killed in motorcycle vs. vehicle accident near 60th & Fairmount

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- At least one person has been killed in a motorcycle vs. vehicle accident near 60th and Fairmount in Milwaukee. The accident happened on Saturday, May 23rd at approximately 6:49 p.m.

Police say two passengers traveling northbound on N. 60th Street on a 2007 Yamaha motorcycle struck a 2007 Ford Fusion that had just pulled off from a stop sign from westbound Fairmount Avenue.

Both passengers of the motorcycle were ejected from the motorcycle and landed in the southbound lanes of N. 60th Street.

The 35-year-old driver of the motorcycle suffered a non-life threatening injury and was  treated at a hospital -- he was wearing a helmet.

His 35-year-old female passenger, now identified as Merrisa Romas, suffered a serious head injury and later died. She was not wearing a helmet.

The 56-year-old male driver of the Ford Fusion was also transported to a local hospital for treatment of a minor injury. Police say he is cooperating with this investigation.

At this time, police say the speed of the motorcycle was a factor in this accident.

UPDATE: The driver of the motorcycle was later arrested for operating with a suspended license resulting in death. Charges will be present to the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office in the coming days.
