MILWAUKEE (WITI) — This weekend is the unofficial kickoff to summer — and to top it off, some area water parks opened for the season Saturday, May 23rd.

Cool Waters Family Aquatic Park and David F. Schulz Aquatic Center are now open. Both parks have waterslides, beach entry, and interactive water toys.

The family water parks are only open on weekends through June 7th.

Management points out the parks aren’t just for fun — they can also teach you valuable life skills.

“We also offer swim lessons throughout many of the county parks and we would encourage people to come out and actually learn how to swim and water safety is part of that as well,” said Chief of Recreation and Business Development, Susie Devcich.

Weekend and holiday hours for Cool Waters are 10 a.m to 6 p.m. — Schulz is open from noon to 6 p.m.
