"It was chaotic:" Two women killed in violent collision on Milwaukee's north side

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- A deadly start to the Memorial Day weekend as Milwaukee police investigate a double fatal car accident near Sherman and Glendale early Saturday morning, May 23rd.

"It was chaotic. There were cars everywhere, a body out on the lawn, a truck, a car," said a witness.

Before dawn, mangled vehicles came to a rest near Sherman and Glendale. As the sun rises, car parts are seen strewn throughout several lawns.

A sobering image of a car wreck that claimed the lives of two women just before 2:30 a.m. Saturday morning.

The ladies who were in their 20's were in a Chevy Monte Carlo traveling westbound on W. Glendale when they were struck by a Chevy Tahoe that was traveling northbound on N. Sherman. The vehicles collided and the victims died at the scene.

UPDATE: On Tuesday, May 26th, police identified the victims in this crash as 26-year-old Deshon Tyler and 25-year-old Krystal Holder.

Police believe the driver of the SUV, a 42-year-old Milwaukee man, was drunk.

While two young lives were cut short, the suspect walked away uninjured.

Those at the scene are fuming.

"If you are going to drink and be out, maybe you should have somebody who is a designated driver. Drink responsibly or drink at home," said a witness.

A woman who didn't want to be identified says those living in a nearby home are distraught, left with the image and remnants of the grisly scene.

"It's not the first time we have to clean up after an accident because someone carelessly drove down here and got into an accident," said the witness.

Residents are hoping this tragedy makes drivers slow down and recognize the severe impacts of drinking and driving.

The 42-year-old SUV driver was taken into custody on suspicion of operating while intoxicated. Again, he was not injured in the crash.
