Fire causes extensive damage to home on Linden Street in Fond du Lac early Sunday

FOND DU LAC (WITI) -- Fond du Lac fire officials say fire caused extensive damage to a home on Linden Street early Sunday, May 24th.

It happened just after 2:00 a.m.

Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue officials found heavy fire on the back side of the home that extended into the first and second floors of the structure.

Fire crews quickly extinguished that fire, but not before it caused extensive heat and smoke damage to the first and second floor of the residence.

No one was home at the time of the fire.

Fire crews remained on scene for approximately two-and-a-half hours.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
