"On scene" portion of Kenosha County animal abuse investigation complete

KENOSHA COUNTY (WITI) -- Officials with the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department say they have wrapped up the "on scene" portion of an animal abuse investigation in Brighton and Paris Townships.

Officials say a rendering service, along with the assistance of Sheriff David Beth, the Kansasville Fire Department and the Paris Fire Department, were able to safely remove dozens of carcasses from the two properties. Area farmers are now helping with the cleanup process at those properties.

Sheriff Beth has given the owner of the farms one week to rectify the situation. He has directed Kenosha County Sheriff’s Deputies and Detectives to conduct three daily inspections of the progress.

15 calves that were relocated from the Brighton address remain at another location where they are being cared for. All of the livestock at the Brighton address have been removed.

The 100 plus remaining cattle at the Paris Township address will remain at this location. The investigation revealed these animals appeared to have been fed and in good health.

This case is being forwarded to the Kenosha County District Attorney’s Office for review.
