City officials kick off Men's Health Month: "We can't have a healthy Milwaukee without healthy men"

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett and other city officials kicked off Men's Health Month on Monday, June 1st.

The city of Milwaukee is teaming up with Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare, Brain Brawn & Body and Journey House.

On Monday morning, they announced a free health summit that will happen on June 20th at Journey House.

It was explained that men in Milwaukee are getting sick and dying earlier at a greater rate than the national average.

"We can't have a healthy Milwaukee without healthy men. This is a partnership, and I think sometimes we believe that as men we can do everything, but there are some things we have to do others," Milwaukee Health Commissioner Bevan Baker said.

One of the highlights of the summit will be an "Athletes in Action" presentation by former Packers LeRoy Butler. Gilbert Brown will also conduct a football clinic that day for kids.
