Homicide suspect has died after officer-involved shooting in Monroe

MONROE -- Authorities say a man suspected of shooting two men, one fatally, has been shot and killed by a Green County sheriff's deputy.

Monroe police were called to a mobile home park about 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 22nd where they found one man dead and another seriously wounded. Minutes later, police received a report of a man covered in blood and carrying a handgun about eight blocks from the mobile home.

Officers arrived, ordered the suspect to drop his gun. Monroe Police Chief Frederick Kelley says the man instead pointed the gun at officers and was shot by the deputy. The suspect was taken to Monroe Clinic Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

WISC-TV reports police say the men apparently knew each other and the shooting may have stemmed from an argument.
