Suspect with five warrants, wanted in at least three violent incidents, arrested by West Allis officers

WEST ALLIS -- West Allis police say a suspect with five arrest warrants was taken into custody last weekend thanks to an observant police officer.

Police say an officer on third-shift patrol conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with heavily-tinted windows that matched the description of a vehicle used in a recent shooting. The vehicle initially pulled over, but then fled at a high rate of speed and a pursuit ensued.

Officers who were conducting a traffic stop nearby deployed stop sticks, which were struck by the suspect vehicle and caused the vehicle's tires to begin deflating.

The vehicle, now disabled, continued to flee -- but it eventually stopped.

Then, police say the driver fled on foot.

Officers quickly established a perimeter in the area.

A search by a K9 team eventually led officers to the suspect’s location and he was taken into custody.

The passenger, whom police say remained in the suspect vehicle, was also taken into custody.

Officers recovered marijuana, cocaine, heroin, prescription medication and drug paraphernalia in the suspect vehicle along with a spent 9mm shell casing.

Police say the driver is from Milwaukee -- and he was arrested for fleeing an officer, multiple drug offenses, and a variety of other offenses.

He was found to be on probation and had five arrest warrants to include two felony arrest warrants. Police have learned the suspect was a person of interest in at least three separate violent incidents in other jurisdictions -- including a shooting, an assault involving a suspect being armed with a handgun and a robbery/carjacking.

The involvement of the passenger, who is also a Milwaukee resident, continues to be investigated.

An investigation has revealed the suspect vehicle had been reported stolen.
