Neighbors in Greenfield come together to help families dealing with autism: "Money raised stays here"

GREENFIELD -- According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, autism affects as many as one in 68 children.

On Saturday morning, August 1st, neighbors in Greenfield came together to make sure local families dealing with autism know they're not alone.

The River Falls Golf and Recreation Center donated rounds of mini golf, and the Greenfield Fire Department offered tours of fire trucks.

The event benefited the Autism Society of Southeastern Wisconsin.

Organizers say they're thrilled to see so much support.

"The money that is raised here stays here in our community helping local families. We have social groups. We have support groups. We have telephone information referral so parents that are newly diagnosed can call us and get information to support their child," Emily Levine with the Autism Society of Southeastern Wisconsin said.
