Milwaukee man comes forward to claim $22.2M winning Megabucks ticket

MILWAUKEE -- A Milwaukee man is the lucky winner of $22.2 million from the Megabucks drawing back on May 30th.

John Rumpel came forward to claim the largest Megabucks jackpot since the game began in 1992. He has chosen the cash option of $15.7 million as his prize.

Rumpel purchased his winning ticket at A&I Services located on W. Howard Avenue in Milwaukee. A&I Services will receive $100,000 for selling the winning ticket.

Rumpel had 180 days from the drawing on May 30th to claim the prize at the Lottery's headquarters in Madison.

Megabucks is Wisconsin's own lotto game. Drawings take place every Wednesday and Saturday night.

Currently, the Megabucks jackpot is estimated at $1.2 million for Saturday night's drawing, August 8th.
