"Our baby had a heartbeat:" Couple whose pregnancy announcement went viral announce miscarriage

TERRELL, Texas -- YouTube vlogging couple Sam and Nia's video announcing their pregnancy went viral last week -- and now, there's a heartbreaking update. Sam and Nia have announced they've experienced a miscarriage.

Sam and Nia posted the video update on YouTube and on their Facebook page on Saturday, August 8th.

This whole thing began when Sam had an inkling his wife might be pregnant since she told him she was two weeks late for her period. He had the idea of using a urine sample she left in the toilet in a pregnancy test to see if he could find out first, and then surprise her with the good news.

His gut feeling on this one proved correct: The test came back positive.

In the video, Sam surprises Nia and their two little children with the good news and the positive test, capturing all of their adorable reactions on camera.

To be extra safe the test wasn’t incorrect due to water dilution from the toilet, Nia takes a second test at the end of the video and finds out she is indeed pregnant.

That video was posted to YouTube last Wednesday, August 5th.

The video posted on Saturday is titled: "Our baby had a heartbeat."

"We were just so overjoyed, and then it just - BAM. It just hit us like a bomb. The hardest part is just knowing that it's really gone. There's no question," Nia says in the video.

"We're so hurt, but we're so grateful that God used us like this," Sam says in the video.

Nia says in the video: "The Bible says to weep with those who weep," and Nia says she and Sam are now feeling what so many couples who have gone through miscarriages have felt, and continue to feel.

"Maybe there's someone who is going through this with us," Nia said.

They say they "never imagined" their pregnancy announcement video would get "so big."

Sam and Nia regularly post videos about their family’s daily lives. According to their Facebook page, they are high school sweethearts and live in Texas.
