Milwaukee Brewers general manager Doug Melvin to take on new role with team
MILWAUKEE — The Milwaukee Brewers announced on Tuesday, August 11th that team general manager Doug Melvin will transition into an advisory role with the club.
According to the Milwaukee Brewers website, team owner Mark Attanasio hired the executive search firm Korn Ferry to organize the process, and said he would begin asking for permission to interview candidates this week during Owners’ Meetings in Chicago.
The site also indicates Attanasio has an interest in having the Brewers join the wave of teams that have turned to young GMs with a focus on analytics.
During his 12-year tenure, Melvin has 957 regular-season wins and two postseason berths, including a 2011 National League Central Division championship.
Melvin is one of only five Canadian natives to ever serve as a Major League general manager.
