Sheriff's officials: Driver struck barrier on I-794 near Water Street and then fled the scene

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee County Sheriff's officials say a crash on I-794 WB near N. Water Street on Tuesday evening, August 11th was a hit-and-run crash.

It happened around 6:30 p.m.

Sheriff's officials say a vehicle headed eastbound struck a barrier -- pushing part of the barrier into the westbound lane of traffic.

Milwaukee police shut down the Jackson Street on-ramp so that some special equipment could be utilized to fix the barrier.

The crash was cleared around 7:30 p.m.

Sheriff's officials say the Department of Transportation was able to get a license plate for the striking vehicle.
