MPD officers able to quickly arrest convicted felon wanted in sexual assault, attempted sexual assault

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police say two officers were able to arrest a convicted felon wanted in connection with a sexual assault and attempted sexual assault on the city's south side.

Officers responded to the 1000 block of S. 19th Street around 2:40 a.m. on August 27th for a report of a sexual assault and a robbery.

The victim, a 28-year-old Milwaukee woman, told officers a suspect had just sexually assaulted her in a nearby alley and robbed her of her purse at knifepoint.

The victim was able to give officers a description of the car the suspect was driving and around 3:15 a.m. the officers located the car in the 1500 block of S. 15th Street.

The suspect, a 27-year-old Milwaukee man, was taken into custody.

While the officers were still on scene with the suspect, a 23-year-old Milwaukee woman approached the officers and said the suspect attempted to sexually assault her a few minutes earlier and stole money from her.

The suspect is a convicted felon with an arrest record dating back to 2005.

MPD will present this case to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days.
