Sworn in: Borkowski takes oath of office, will represent Milwaukee's 11th Aldermanic Dist.

MILWAUKEE -- There's a new member on Milwaukee's Common Council.

Newly-elected Alderman Mark Borkowski took the oath of office on Tuesday morning, September 1st -- inside the Common Council chamber. He will represent Milwaukee's 11th Aldermanic District.

Alderman Joe Dudzik

Borkowski fills the seat previously held by Joe Dudzik. Dudzik died in May after crashing his motorcycle on the city’s southwest side.

Dudzik's mother was there as Borkowski took the oath of office, and Borkowski talked to her about how Dudzik helped him during the election.

"On the campaign trail, I felt Joe's spirit. I really did. I felt his spirit -- but Rose, I will tell you that I have a bone to pick with your son and that is this -- he made it way too damn close," Borkowski said.

Borkowski was referring to the results of a special election last month. He defeated Senator Tim Carpenter (D-Milwaukee) by less than 100 votes.
