Milwaukee police: 10-year-old girl hears a "pop," realizes she was shot

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police are investigating two separate shootings from Friday, September 4th. In one of the incidents, the victim was just ten years old.

The first shooting happened in Washington Park around 5:30 p.m. A 10-year-old girl indicated she was playing with friends when she heard a “pop” and realized she was shot. The girl then walked home and was taken to a hospital two hours later by her parents. Once there, she was treated and released for a minor injury. Right now, there are no suspects identified in this incident.

Police responded to a second shooting near 16th and Hopkins just after 11 p.m. Friday. A 51-year-old woman from Milwaukee was leaving an apartment when shots rang out between two groups of people. After hearing the shots, the woman realized she had been shot and drove herself to a hospital where she was treated for a non-life threatening injury. There are no suspects in custody.
