All clear: Rollover crash temporarily causes backups on I-43 near downtown Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE -- A rollover crash on southbound I-43 at Walnut St. in Milwaukee temporarily forced the closure of multiple lanes on Friday afternoon, September 11th. But shortly after 3 p.m., the wreckage was cleared -- and traffic began flowing again.

Officials with the Milwaukee  County Sheriff's Office say the crash happened at 2:16 p.m. An SUV pulling a trailer rolled over, but the trailer it was hauling stayed upright. Because the hitch was twisted, it took deputies more time to clear up the crash.

The driver of the SUV was treated on scene for very minor injuries. That person was not taken to a hospital.

At its worst, traffic backups from this incident extended beyond Silver Spring Dr. There were also backups seen in the northbound lanes of I-43 -- extending to the south end of Milwaukee's high-ride bridge.
