KENOSHA -- Kenosha police say two young children were found dead inside a home near 50th St. and 33rd Ave. early Saturday, September 12th.

In addition to the children found deceased, a woman was also found inside the home.

With their shoes covered, Kenosha police officers stepped inside the residence around 3:15 a.m. looking for clues and evidence surrounding a death investigation.

"This is a tragedy, these are two innocent children. Very unfortunate, very heart wrenching," said Sherry Wallace, neighbor.

Neighbors living near the 5000 block are shocked to hear what was found inside.

"Something like this goes beyond comprehension, it really does," said Wallace.

When police arrived on scene they located the two young children dead inside the home and an injured woman. She was hurt possibly from an apparent suicide attempt.

Relatives say the children were one and three-years-old.

"It's scary that something could happen so close to you," said Gabriela Avila, neighbor.

Concerned neighbors not only question why it happened, but how.

"You never know what's going on behind closed doors. Everyone I talked to didn't have a clue, didn't even know there were people living in the house," said Wallace.

Despite not knowing the children, folks in the neighborhood still mourn the loss, knowing that lives were lost far too early.

"It's unfortunate, very sad," said Wallace.

The woman that was found was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.

The father of the children has been taken in for questioning.

Officials say they are in the preliminary stages of this investigation. However, they are confident there is no threat to the public.

A news conference is expected to be held sometime on Sunday, September 13th.
