"There's nothing better:" Folks explore the ins and outs of Miller Park, for free!

MILWAUKEE -- It's a day at Miller Park even though the Brewers are away! Fans were experiencing access few ever get considering the price of admission.

When the Brewers are away it's up to fans to round first, and to hang out in the dugouts and reach for the fences.

"We've looked at everything, went to the outfield, ran around a bit, jumped into the wall," said Chris Worrell, brought family to Miller Park.

Miller Park was open for business even as the team was warming up in Pittsburgh.

"It's going to be a great day at the ballpark," said Ellen Gilligan, GMF President.

Fans are getting something extra.

"To celebrate our centennial, the foundation decided that we wanted to really celebrate what really makes this community wonderful to live in," said Gilligan.

A field of games and activities lined the stadium concourse making it easy for kids, to be kids.

"There's nothing better than seeing a big smile on a kids face when they see the sausages or Bernie," said Cecelia George, Community Foundation Executive Director.

A regular ticket to the game never gives you this kind of access. Fans were led into the visitors dugout, around the warning track, through the right field and to the underground batting cages. The only place you can't go is on the grass, but that is understandable. And folks get to do all of it for free!

"It's just an instantaneous, we wanted to come because we love the Brewers and we love Miller Park," said Andy Heinecke, brought family to Miller Park.

Even though every seat at Miller Park is a good one.

"Anybody gets the same experience so it appeals to any family of all ages," said Denise Heinecke.

But it doesn't compare when you are a whole lot closer to the action.

"It would be awesome if I could play here and hit a home run off the screen," said Sam Heinecke.

Fans also watched the Brewers take on the Pirates on the big screen -- a rare event in itself.

The Brewers Foundation also collected school supplies for area students during the event.
