Medical Examiner's Office identifies 69-year-old man killed in tree trimming accident in St. Francis

ST. FRANCIS -- The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office has identified a 69-year-old man who died in a tree trimming accident in St. Francis on Wednesday morning, September 23rd.

The deceased is Blas Berumen of Oak Creek. He was pronounced dead around 10:30 a.m. inside an ambulance near the scene.

The medical examiner has determined Berumen died as a result of a blunt force head injury, and his death has been ruled an accident.

Berumen was helping his son trim trees at his son's home near East Crawford Avenue and South Hill Place in St. Francis when a tree branch broke off and struck him in the head -- knocking him off a ladder, the medical examiner's report says.

The report indicates Berumen's vital signs were good initially, but he became unresponsive when Flight for Life arrived to transfer him to the hospital. CPR was performed, but Berumen could not be resuscitated.
