BROOKFIELD -- October is National Bullying Prevention Month. Saturday, September 26th dozens of kids got the chance to join the anti-bullying crusade.

Captain McFinn, a costumed shark anti-bullying crusader, was at Brookfriend Square Mall spreading a simple message with children: "Be a buddy, not a bully."

Kids were also encouraged to sign an anti-bullying pledge.

Brookfield's Mayor Steve Ponto, says it was important to have the event at the mall, so that the cause gets plenty of attention.

"Brookfield is a very secure community, but this can be a problem even in a place like Brookfield, because it's truly a national problem and we want to address it. We want to make people aware of it so that they talk to their children about it or they can get help if they're being bullied -- or stop bullying if they are the ones that are doing it," said Mayor Ponto.
