"We want to show our appreciation:" Milwaukee prepares for annual Veterans Day Parade with Kick-off Party

MILWAUKEE -- The 2015 Veterans Day Parade Kick-off Party was hosted on Saturday night, September 26th. All kind of events took place along Milwaukee's lakefront ahead of the annual parade.

Not one year ago, organizers weren't even sure there would be a parade. Milwaukee's Veterans Day Parade had a funding problem, but organizers say thanks to media coverage, including FOX6 News, they were able to get a $20,000 donation from TransCanada to keep the parade going.

This year's event will include a special thanks to veterans who served in Iraq and Afghanistan.

"To show us that they care about us, they want to honor us and we want to show our appreciation, and we hope Milwaukee shows their appreciation by coming out that day," said Alan Lewis, served in Iraq.

That day is Saturday, November 7th.

FOX6 News is a proud sponsor and the exclusive media partner of the Veterans Day Parade.
