FAA investigating after aircraft slid off runway at West Bend Municipal Airport

WEST BEND -- An investigation is underway after an aircraft experienced a mishap on Saturday, September 26th at the West Bend Municipal Airport.

It happened around 4:00 p.m.

West Bend police say a preliminary investigation revealed a 59-year-old Iowa man had attempted to land his Piper Comanche single engine plane, and during touchdown, the landing gear was damaged, causing the plane to leave the runway.

The plane came to rest in the grass, just off the runway.

The pilot was alone an uninjured.

No other injuries were reported.

The FAA was contacted and will be taking over the investigation.
