Yoga for vets

MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee VA’s weekly yoga program, “Warrior Stance,” has moved to a new location and time beginning Tuesday, September 29th.

The yoga program will now take place 4:15 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. each Tuesday in room B105 in building 43 on the Milwaukee VA campus at 5000 W. National Avenue.

The yoga class is free and open to all veterans.

The VA began the program in January and as many as 25 veterans participate each week, ranging in age from 29 to 92.

Instructor Erin Bullock, a social worker in the Iraq and Afghanistan outreach office, said yoga helps flexibility, balance and strengthen muscles as she gently moves through different postures. She said it provides physical as well as mental health benefits. She said the new location provides much more open space and natural light.
