State Democrats call on Gov. Walker, Republicans to change agenda

MADISON — Democratic legislative leaders say Gov. Scott Walker and Republicans have lost focus and are overreaching by catering to the far right wing of their party in an "insatiable appetite for power."

Democrats spoke out Tuesday at a news conference where they called on Walker to reverse his decision to reject federal money to pay for Medicaid expansion.

Democratic Senate Minority Leader Jennifer Shilling says Republicans "don't get it" and have "taken their eye off the ball about what really matters in this state." She says "they have this insatiable appetite for power and they're overreaching."

Democratic Assembly Minority Leader Peter Barca says if Republicans accept the Medicaid expansion money, they will respond to Pope Francis' call during his just completed visit to America to help those who are in need.
