Gordon Campbell was found near the area of E. Adams Ct. and S. Nicholson Ave. just before 5 a.m. on Tuesday, September 22nd.  During the course of the investigation, police determined 23-year-old Campbell, an African-American man from Milwaukee, died from a gunshot wound -- and this case is now considered a homicide.

It is unclear whether Campbell was killed on scene, or whether he was dropped off where his body was eventually found.

Officials say the incident appears to be isolated -- and residents are not in danger.

"It still feels surreal, almost like it didn`t happen," Josh Jagler said. "It was just kind of jarring."

It has been two weeks since Jagler and other neighbors woke up to a crime scene in their neighborhood.

"Yellow police tape kind of sectioned everything off," Jagler said.

How and why Campbell's body ended up in the street in Cudahy remains a mystery.

"Big question mark above out heads. What`s going on?" Christine Schulze said.

Police have now released the identify of the victim in the hope that someone in the public can help them solve this case.

"Not a lot of people heard or saw anything -- so we are still investigating this. This is an open homicide investigation," Melissa Mueller with the Cudahy Police Department said.

Homicides are not common in Cudahy.

"This is probably our third one in five years. Our last one was two years earlier," Mueller said.
