Animal neglect investigation: Caledonia police say 24 animals surrendered as search warrant executed

CALEDONIA -- Caledonia police say dozens of animals were surrendered to authorities after a search warrant was executed as part of an animal neglect investigation.

The search warrant was executed on Friday, October 16th at a home on Highway 38 in Caledonia.

Wisconsin Humane Society officials assisted Caledonia police at the scene, as did the Namaste Equine Rescue organization.

A total of 24 animals, including birds, small animals and cats were surrendered to authorities.

The incident remains under investigation.

Police say charges could be forwarded to the Racine County District Attorney's Office in the coming days.
