Milwaukee police: Three arrested after trying to steal car on city's east side

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police arrested three suspects after they tried to steal a car on the east side and are investigating whether they could be responsible for similar crimes in the area.

District One officers responded to the area of N. Prospect Avenue and E. Woodstock Place just after 8:00 p.m. on October 16th where the female caller saw three men try to enter her vehicle in a parking lot.

The woman yelled at the men and they fled on foot. The three suspects were located a short time later in the 1500 block of E. Irving Place and taken into custody.

One of the suspects had a phone in his hand that was stolen earlier in the day from a car in the 400 block of W. North Avenue.

The suspects arrested are a 16-year-old male and two 20-year-old men, all from Milwaukee. One of the 20-year-old men is a convicted felon.

MPD is currently working with neighboring jurisdictions and is investigating whether the three suspects could have committed other crimes in the metro area. This case will be presented to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days
