Gov. Walker says he's confident $200 million for roads will be approved

NEENAH — Gov. Scott Walker says he is confident a bipartisan coalition of lawmakers could be put together to overcome Republican opposition to his call to borrow $200 million this year to pay for roads and avoid delays in five ongoing major projects.

Walker traveled to Neenah to make his case Tuesday, October 20th at the site of a road project that would be delayed without the additional borrowing.

Earlier on Tuesday, he urged the state chamber of commerce gathering for a meeting in Madison to pressure lawmakers to approve the spending, which is available to be spent under the state budget.

But Republicans are divided over whether to approve the additional borrowing, giving Democrats the power to cast the deciding votes.
