43-year-old Sheboygan man, accused of possession of child pornography, found guilty at trial

SHEBOYGAN COUNTY -- A 43-year-old Sheboygan man, charged with 10 counts of possession of child pornography, has been found guilty by a jury.

Thomas Wirth

In court on Thursday, October 29th, a doctor reported on his evaluation of Thomas Wirth, and the court ruled this case does not meet the burden of proof for a not guilty by reason of insanity -- and it was ruled that the court's guilty verdict would stand in this case.

Wirth was found guilty on all 10 charges.

A sentencing hearing has been scheduled for November 6th.

The alleged child pornography in this case was discovered by a computer repairman.

"I took a look at this file-sharing program that was running and I saw strange file names. File names that you don't want to see," said Shaun Brachmann. "That's when I called the police."

Wirth was arrested and charged with 10 counts of possession of child pornography.

"If we can bring people to justice that are engaged in that, then it's all for the better good," said Joe DeCecco, Sheboygan County district attorney.
