Man dies after being pulled from Lake Michigan at McKinley Marina

MILWAUKEE -- A man drowned in Lake Michigan near Milwaukee's McKinley Marina early Sunday morning, November 1st.

The Milwaukee Fire Department's dive rescue team was called out to the scene around 2:30 a.m.

Officials with the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office tell FOX6 News they were dispatched shortly after 3:30 a.m.

We're told the man was wearing a Halloween costume when he went into the water.

Once in the water, the man said: "I cannot swim," and fishermen nearby tried to pull the man from the water, officials with the Milwaukee Fire Department say. The fishermen had the man, but could not keep hold of him, and he went under.

MFD officials attempted life-saving measures once the man was pulled from the water, but the man could not be revived.

There is no word on whether drugs or alcohol played a factor in this incident.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday, November 2nd.

The victim in this case has not yet been identified.
