Racine man accused of beating child for not getting enough Halloween candy

RACINE— A Racine man is accused of beating a child with a clothes hanger for failing to return from trick-or-treating with enough candy.

The man is being held on $2,000 cash bond in Racine County where he's charged with child abuse and possessing cocaine. A criminal complaint accuses the man of repeated beatings of the girl and her sister.

Prosecutors say one of the girls told police the man hit her with a hanger on Halloween when she failed to collect enough candy. The Journal Times  reports the girl's sister told police the man repeatedly hit her with a hanger and pulled her hair earlier that evening.

The complaint says police found cocaine in the man's pocket when they arrested him. Online court records do not list a defense attorney.
