Gov. Walker speaks at school in Kenosha for Veterans Day program: “We owe our veterans a debt of gratitude"

KENOSHA -- Governor Scott Walker joined students, staff, veterans, and their families Wednesday, November 4th at Christian Life School in Kenosha for their Veterans Day program.  The program also featured remarks from Vietnam Veteran Joe Campbell, who assists veterans struggling with post-war personal issues.

“We owe our veterans a debt of gratitude for their brave service to our country,” Governor Walker said.  “Without the dedication and commitment of these brave men and women, we would not be able to enjoy the freedoms we do today.  Here in Wisconsin, we are committed to investing in programs that help our returning veterans obtain a good-paying job where they can utilize the unique skills they’ve gained through their service in the armed forces.”

One of Governor Walker’s priorities is investing in resources that help to ensure Wisconsin’s veterans have the tools they need to grow and thrive when they return from serving our country.

According to the Governor's Office, the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development (DWD) announced in March of this year that the veteran unemployment rate in the state dropped to 4.1 percent in 2014, a significant decrease for Wisconsin’s veterans since 2010.

Governor Walker continues his support of the state’s veterans by investing in initiatives and programs that connect veterans to family-supporting jobs and assist veteran business startups.
