Chick-fil-A restaurant honors veterans with ‘Missing Man Table’
MARIETTA, Ga. — A Chick-fil-A restaurant in Georgia is honoring veterans and active-duty service members with a “Missing Man Table.”
Eric Comfort shared the photo on Facebook with the caption:
“Here is what my local Chick-fil-a did in honor of Veterans Day. That’s why this company is so beloved in Georgia. Unbelievable.”
Store manager Alex Korchan told WSB-TV the table features a folded American flag, a place setting for the veteran, and a letter titled “Missing Man Table.” The letter is similar to notes left on other “Missing Man” tables.
The letter reads:
“This table is reserved to honor our missing comrades in arms. The tablecloth is white — symbolizing the purity of their motives when answering the call of duty. The single red rose, displayed in a vase, reminds us of the life of each of the missing and their loved ones and friends of these Americans who keep the faith, awaiting answers. The vase is tied with a red ribbon, symbol of our continued determination to account for our missing. A pinch of salt symbolizes the tears endured by those missing and their families who seek answers. The Bible represents the strength gained through faith to sustain those lost from our country, founded as one nation under God. The glass is inverted — to symbolize their inability to share this evening’s toast. The chair is empty — they are missing.”
Most Chick-fil-A locations across the country will be offering free meals to veterans and active-duty members on Veterans Day. Check with your local restaurant for specific times/offerings.
