German pianist, who played "Imagine" at Bataclan concert hall, has played his piano in Milwaukee

PARIS/MILWAUKEE -- A performance by a street musician in Paris following the deadly terror attacks on Friday, November 13th is touching hearts across the world. Outside the steps of the Bataclan concert hall the following day, a man sat down at a mobile piano and started playing John Lennon’s “Imagine.” That pianist, who has friends in Wisconsin, spoke with FOX6 News about the message he hoped to share in the wake of tragedy.

Video showing Davide Martello of Germany playing John Lennon's "Imagine" following the terror attacks in Paris that left at least 129 dead and more than 300 hurt has gone viral.

He says he traveled to Paris after the attacks on Friday to play in honor of the victims.

"Just one song. Just 'Imagine' -- and then I couldn't play anymore. It was just too much for me. It was too much," Martello said.

After playing the song, Martello packed up his piano and headed back to Germany.

Now, he tells FOX6 News he's feeling a call to return to Paris -- to play "Imagine" again, at each site where the attacks occurred.

"It's very important right now for street performers in Paris -- they should go out. They need to go out and play their music," Martello said.

Martello traveled to the United States the summer before last -- pulling his piano behind his car and performing.

He calls his recent performance in Paris one of the most touching of his life. He says he hopes it causes people to stop and reflect.
