Henry Ellenson scores 14 of 18 points after half to lead Marquette to 78-73 OT win over Arizona State

NEW YORK — Henry Ellenson scored 14 of his 18 points after halftime leading Marquette to a 78-73 overtime victory over Arizona State in the championship game of the Legends Classic on Tuesday night, November 24th.


Ellenson began 2 of 7 from the floor but finished 6 of 14 and was named the tournament's MVP.

The freshman forward scored on Marquette's first possession of overtime when he hit a turnaround jumper for a 69-67 lead.  The Golden Eagles (3-2) took the lead for good at 74-73 when Duane Wilson split a pair at the line with 95 seconds remaining and Ellenson increased the lead to 76-73 with 32.7 seconds remaining with two free throws after faking a 3-point attempt.

Arizona State's Gerry Blakes fired an air ball on a 3-point attempt on the next possession, then Traci Carter made 1 of 2 from the line with 17.3 seconds remaining and Blakes missed a reverse layup.

Arizona State fell to 3-2.
