Mad rush for Thanksgiving dinner: Shoppers flood grocery stores for last-minute items

MILWAUKEE -- We're all looking forward to a big feast on Thanksgiving Day -- but on Wednesday, November 25th it was a mad rush at the grocery store.

It wasn't just for those last-minute items. Pick 'n Save in Oak Creek was packed the day before Thanksgiving with people purchasing their whole meal.

"I've never done just the day before Thanksgiving," said last-minute shopper Becky Mierow-Vallee.

But in the kitchen, Mierow-Vallee is a seasoned pro.

"The turkey we usually do on the grill. Haven't done it any other way," said Mierow-Vallee.

But she admits last-minute shopping for a crowd can be stressful.

"I'm a little concerned now, only because it is the day before, that the turkey will be thawed in time," said Mierow-Vallee.

From the fresh to the frozen, carts were filled to the brim.

"We're going to be trying not to stock as much as we are helping customers," said Eric Thomas, Oak Creek Pick 'n Save director.
