President & CEO of Kohler Co.: Without two-tiered wage system, 400 jobs wouldn't exist

KOHLER -- The president and CEO of Kohler is offering his insight into the contract dispute between the company and workers.

Union workers have been on strike for more than a week now.

In an open letter, David Kohler says the company's two-tier wage structure is a sticking point for workers -- but he points out that without that tiered system, more than 400 jobs at the company wouldn't exist.

Union leaders say the cost of insurance and lower wages also contributed to the first strike at the company since 1983.
