83-year-old man dies after two-vehicle crash in Walworth County

WALWORTH COUNTY -- A two-vehicle crash in Walworth County has left an 83-year-old Village of Bloomfield man dead.

The accident occurred on Thursday morning, November 26th just before 11:00 a.m.

According to the Walworth County Sheriff's Office, initial investigation shows 83-year-old Richard Lewandowski was traveling westbound on Mound Road in a 2009 grey Hyundai, when he pulled out from a stop sign into the path of a 2006 white Ford van.

Authorities say the van, driven by a 26-year-old Elkhorn man, was traveling northbound on Highway F with the right of way when it struck into Lewandowski's vehicle.

Lewandowski was pronounced dead at the scene by the Walworth County Medical Examiner's Office.

The driver of the van received minor injuries.

The drivers were the only occupants in both vehicles.

The Walworth County Sheriff's Office Crash Investigation Unit is now investigating.
