"I'm trying to hurry up:" Easy breezy shopping at Toys 'R' Us ahead of Black Friday

MILWAUKEE -- If you don't mind the rain, Thanksgiving night made for some of the most pain-free Black Friday shopping around.

Toys 'R' Us

Thursday, many people had to choose: wait in the rain, or get cozy before the Packers game.

"Oh yes, definitely that's why I'm trying to get this done now," said a shopper.

Inevitably, some people tried to do both.

When the doors opened at 5:00 p.m. at the Toys 'R' Us located at 8825 N. 76th, there was no mad dash with shades of "Tickle Me Elmo."

In fact, the crowd mimicked the pace of making the average airport connection.

Elizabeth Kutcher's next stop is Walmart -- she was one of the first inside Toys 'R' Us.

"It was raining, lots of rain, cold but not too cold," Kutcher.

The initial rush ushered in around 75 people, or twice the number of sales associates working until midnight.

"Really once we come in this afternoon, it's about getting the registers set up, making sure all the associates are in the right spots and all the associates are here," said Toys 'R' Us Store Manager, Jo Chase.

The Packers 7:30 p.m. kickoff may have kept some shopper away. Of course, then there are fans like Dana Jensen, who are trying to have it all.

"I am looking for my 11-year-old daughter," said Jensen.

That and make it home in time for the Packers versus Bears. Which leaves Toys 'R' Us and another Packer fan a two-hour window to shop, depending on the drive.

"I guess the whole Thursday, Black Friday shopping, I am not quite used to yet but that's why I am trying to hurry up now so I can watch the Packers game after," said a shopper.
