Body found in box in Kentucky believed to be connected to Wisconsin homicide

PINEVILLE, Kentucky — Kentucky State Police have found a body that is believed to be connected to a Wisconsin homicide inside a box alongside a Bell County road.

Bell County Coroner Jay Steele tells FOX6 News the body was discovered after an anonymous tip from Wisconsin to the Kentucky State Police.

We're told two boxes were found over a cliff off of Mountain Drive in Pineville, Kentucky. A body was found in one of those boxes.

Steele says the body is that of a man. An autopsy was scheduled for Wednesday morning.

Police in Prescott, Wisconsin say the man has been identified as 51-year-old Douglas Bailey of Prescott. Police say Bailey was reported missing to the Peoria County Sheriff's Office in Illinois on November 30th.

Police in Prescott say they are conducting an active investigation.

Prescott police have detained a person of interest, and that person is currently being held at the Pierce County Jail in connection with that missing persons report. No formal charges have been issued. It is believed the man in custody is from Georgia.
