"We love it:" Balmy weather in mid-December means seasonal businesses still booming

MILWAUKEE -- Warmer weather in December means better business for many people who rely on outdoor conditions to do their jobs. Thanks to the unseasonably warm temperatures, the crews at East Side Lawn Care are still hard at work.

"I've been in Wisconsin almost all my life, so I can believe almost anything about the weather here -- but this is a great weather stretch we're having," said East Side Lawn Care Owner Rick Halverson.

Their landscaping season typically ends early November -- but with the sun out Thursday, December 10th and the leaves still falling, they're still working.

"It's great to extend the season out for another couple of weeks. We love it," said Halverson.

So with the warmer weather, the hedging and pruning and leaf blowing continues, and so do the outdoor sports.

FOX6 News caught up with two friends who play a round of disc golf once a week. They've never had the chance to play in December.

"Usually it's two feet of snow, maybe 10 degrees out," said Carolyn Cook & Suzie Melendez.

But not on Thursday!

"Not too many days like this anymore, so gotta take them while we can," said Cook & Melendez.

Meanwhile, Halverson says while he and his crew look forward to a break this winter, the warmer weather is better when it comes to business.

"As long as the weather permits, we'll be here," Halverson said.

Many people were out enjoying Thursday's weather -- running and biking along the lakefront, visiting the dog park, and playing at the park.
