"It seems to be getting worse:" Milwaukee police investigate second stolen delivery truck in one week

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police say it's happened again. For the second time this week, a delivery truck is carjacked. Wednesday, December 9th a U.S. Postal Service worker was the victim of a strong-armed robbery. Thursday, another scary run in -- this one involved a UPS driver.

It's too early to call it a trend but as of right now, Milwaukee police are investigating two different carjackings involving delivery trucks.

"It's terrible and it seems to be getting worse in the inner city," said Tony Hopson, lives close to where carjacking happened.

Police say an armed robbery took place just before 7:00 p.m. Thursday, near N. 36th and Brown Street. Two men approached a 54-year-old driver and pointed a gun.

A spokesperson confirms the victim is a UPS employee. His truck was stolen.

"I feel bad for the people who had to endure that. The pain of having a gun pointed at them. I don't know what was on that truck but I am glad no one got hurt," said Hopson.

Tony Hopson lives close to where it happened. He says some people are becoming desperate enough to steal.

"Yeah it's one thing to keep your head up but when you really live here and you really see what's going on and what happens -- it is a totally different tune," said Hopson.

Two similar crimes in two days: Delivery drivers carjacked with mail and packages still inside, the vehicles found later the same day, but in both cases no suspects are in custody at this time.

On Wednesday, a U.S. postal worker encountered a similar situation near 57th and Burleigh. Surveillance cameras captured the carjacking.

"It's not right I don't know what's going on with the world right now," said Marquise Brazil, lives nearby.

Brazil hopes his community can deliver residents from the recent violence.

"We all need to come together and be as one again. It's something that can be done. It's possible. We need to start loving each other again," said Brazil.

Both of the vehicles in these carjackings have been recovered. We know packages are missing from the van, still -- it unclear if packages were taken from the UPS vehicle.

Both drivers are reportedly OK.
